Meet the Team

D.R. Neans, DVM

Daryl Neans is a Central Texas native – he grew up just a few miles from where Central Texas Animal Hospital stands today. He completed his undergraduate work at Southwest Texas State University (now TSU) and at Texas A&M. He graduated from the Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine in 1980 and then began his practice in Pflugerville.

In “the old days,” it was just Dr. Neans and one assistant working from a small space in downtown Pflugerville (where the tax service is today.) He treated small and large animals which took him to farm duty – emergency calls at all hours of the day or night.

Now, Dr. Neans focuses on the care of cats and dogs and has surrounded himself with the best doctors and staff with whom to practice. This has given him a little more time to do some of the other things he loves – fishing, hunting and training his dogs. He is the consummate outdoorsman, preferring to spend his time traveling to quiet wilderness destinations.

Liza T. Banks, DVM

At the age of 12, I knew I wanted to be a veterinarian. While working my way through undergraduate and vet school, I held a wide variety of interesting jobs which reinforced my decision to have no other career but veterinary medicine:

  • Milk testing at dairies (at 4 am!).
  • Exercise horses at a paint horse farm.
  • Refueling airplanes at the municipal airport.
  • Teaching Assistant at Astronomy lab.
  • Analyzing grass samples in a Range Science lab.

Both my undergraduate (Ranch Management) and Veterinary School years were spent at Texas A&M. Gig ‘EM!

Following stints as a practice co-owner and as a relief vet, I have worked at Central Texas Animal Hospital since 1998.

I met my husband Jon, in high school. We married 3 weeks after graduation – over 25 years ago! Our lovely daughter Chloe is a UT graduate.
